Street Food

June 6 Hanoi

Hoan Kien lake is busy with activity at all hours. At 7AMcouples were dancing, individual and group tai chi, walkers, a few runners.

A 3.5 hour street food tour left us too full to eat supper. We tried pho (noodle soup), 24 hour beer, egg coffee, rice paper wrapped pork. All great. My favourite the egg coffee made by whipping yolk, sugar and condensed milk together and put on top of strong Vietnamese coffee. Tough to sleep with this much caffeine.

Still amazed by the food prep on the street in this heat and humidity. Still waiting for it to hit our systems.

Some streets are specific to what is sold; streets devoted to tailoring, stainless steel, bars.

We are becoming more confident with crossing the street. In Johannesburg street lights were a suggestion, here they are simply for decoration. But, we have not been hit, seen anyone hit or had any close calls. Keep a steady pace and the mopeds will veer around. Yield for cars.

Our street, one of many small alleyways. When we arrived yesterday I wondered how we would find our way back if we ever found our way out. With a few landmarks, everyone is able to get back.
Our room has a bathroom made of glass walls. Odd. Of course, true to Asia, it comes complete with a bum blaster. Levi warned us not to bother trying it. Guess he got soaked.

Levi still wants to know the number of days until we are home. Nate and Luke keen to try anything.
