Cheers Australia

June 4
Last day in the Top End. We thought we would have much time to kill today but turned out we were going strong until 9:00PM. We walked more than 15 km today (god acclimation for Vietnam). Started at the Northern Territory Art Museum. A display of cyclone Tracy that struck Christmas day in 1974 got our attention. A recording plays of the scraping metal sound this cyclone emitted that day.

Darwin does not advise swimming in its beautiful waters as crocs rule here.

To beat the heat we played in the wave pool for the afternoon.

Spent the evening at Mindil Market. Walking back along the dark streets the largest bat I have seen swooped over us. The wing span at least two feet.

With an odd flight time of 4:00 AM we left for the airport during the night. Some sleepy boys tried to make chairs look comfortable.

I have been trying to prep the boys for the assault of Asia. This not being my first rodeo I remember what a shock to all senses Asia can be. They thought Darwin was hot and debilitating. There is no humidity here so they are in for a surprise. As for the smells, sounds and throngs of people there is no prep I can do. Experience will be the teacher.
