Described as being one of the most scenic coastal drives in the world, the Great Ocean Road gets two thumbs up from us. It starts near Bells Beach and extends to Port Fairy. Although this road could easily be driven in one day, we did not want to rush this scenery so we took our time.
The section between Lorne and Apollo Bay is thought to be the most scenic. We were in awe the entire trip. Along the coast it stunning, but even when the road wound inland the lush tropical forest was no less amazing.
We made several stops on our short drive to Lorne as every turn seemed to warrant a picture.
Aussie's must be tired of tourists driving on the wrong side. These signs were frequent!
It was pouring rain by the time we arrived in Lorne in the early evening. We checked into a caravan park to stay in a cabin. Karen and Ashlee came for supper with the boys request of burgers. We have often joked about our 5 star holiday. Here the 7 of us are crammed in our cabin for a cozy supper with the rain beating down. Not only did we eat burgers but we all smelled of them in this tight space with no ventilation.
Lots of laughs and lots of fun on our first night on the Great Ocean Road.
Levi thought the bunk beds should not be classified as beds, but more as shelving. Luke was filed on the bottom shelf for the night.
Packing up on a wet ANZAC morning. Since it was dark when we arrived the night before we found Lorne quite scenic. It has been a favorite beach town of Australians for over a century.
Pics of Lorne
This cockatoo just sat on the fence and posed for the camera. Squawky, but beautiful.
